Nu'uanu Pali, Hawaii

The Nu'uanu Pali, a place many tourist and residents visit for the spectacular view of the windward side of Oahu, is much more than a scenic island spot.

Besides the incredible view, there is history tied to the Nu'uanu Pali, as well as superstition.







One warning you may here is to never bring pork up the Pali, especially at night. Your car may stall! I do not know how true this is, but I sure wouldn't want to attempt it.

While there are many superstitions, there is also a ton of history tied to the Nu'uanu Pali. In fact, it was the sight of one of the bloodiest battles in Hawaiian history! King Kamehameha conquered the Hawaiian islands when hundreds of warriors were pushed off the cliffside at the Nu'uana Pali. When the Pali Highway was first built, hundreds of skulls were found as a result.

The winds at the Pali are quite powerful! I would highly recommend women not wear a dress here because you'll defintiely be giving someone a free show! For people who have long hair, it will be tangled by the time you leave, so you may want to tie it up. Bring a jacket too because it can get cold at the Nu'uanu Pali lookout.
